A man died in an accident while reportedly cleaning a waste pit of a restaurant at Ummini, Olavakode, near Palakkad, Kerala, on Friday morning.

The deceased, identified as Sucheendran from Kallekulangara, is believed to have died from toxic gas inhalation while cleaning the waste pit in front of the hotel.

Sucheendran was called in by the restaurant owner to inspect a blocked drainage. As he climbed down into the waste pit using a ladder to examine the blockage, he reportedly began to feel discomfort.

The restaurant owner attempted to rescue Sucheendran by climbing into the pit but was soon overcome by the toxic fumes. Although people nearby managed to pull the owner to safety, Sucheendran collapsed inside the pit.
