The Bengaluru city civil court on Friday (August 22, 2025) received a bomb threat on its official email id, which the police declared a hoax after extensive searches.

The email was sent early in the morning, but it came to the notice of the authorities around 11 a.m. Subsequently, the police were informed. The Bomb Disposal Squad, canine squad, and police teams rushed to the place and carried out searches for the next two hours. However, no explosives were found.

According to a police officer, the email content was not related to Bengaluru but to a party in Tamil Nadu. The message content centred around caste issues in a political party in Tamil Nadu.

“The email threatened to blow up the establishment, but the content was nowhere related to the city. It was pretty clear from the start that the email might be a hoax,” the officer said.

The Halasuru Gate Police have taken up a case under the relevant sections of the IT Act and have launched an investigation. Preliminary findings revealed that the user has used a Virtual Private Network (VPN), and had created a temporary account on Yandex mail, which is a Russian email service.
