The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) state vice-president K.Subhash Chandra Bose on Friday said that the decisions taken by both the Union and the State governments would benefit the construction industry which had been facing multiple challenges with the skyrocketing of material cost and labour charges.
Speaking to media on Friday, he said that the State government’s decision to stop collection of charges for conversion of agriculture lands for non-agriculture purpose would boost the real estate sector in the State.
He added that the stringent rules imposed under the Non-Agriculture Land Assessment Act (NALA) had delayed many construction projects while putting additional financial burden on the people. He urged the government to collect nominal external developmental charges in the backdrop of exemption from NALA charges.
Mr. Subhash said that the cement rates might come down with the proposal of the Union government to bring reforms in Goods and Services Tax rules, adding that with the proposed reforms cement which is currently under 28% slab might be put in 18% slab in the future.
