A day after singing the RSS anthem in the Assembly in the course of a debate, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday stated that he was a “born Congressman” and would die a Congressman, adding that he stands by the party steadfastly at all times.

“I am given the responsibility of leading the party in the State and I firmly stand with the party,” he said, speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha.

Responding to him singing the RSS anthem in the Assembly, he said: “There is no question of me joining hands directly or indirectly with anyone. I keep researching about the BJP and the JD(S) as a political leader. Similarly, I have researched about the RSS too.”

“I am aware how the RSS built its organisation in the State. The RSS is investing significant amounts and is taking educational institutions into its fold in every district and every taluk. It is trying to reach students,” he said. “I may have political differences, but as a political leader it is important to understand who are my friends and foes.”
