The establishment of sewage treatment plant, which is being built at Panjapur, will be completed within December, according to A.P. Nandakumar, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Legislative Committee on Public Undertakings.
He told reporters, after holding a review meeting at the Collector’s Office on the progress of various projects, that the plant was being undertaken at an estimate of ₹220 crore. It was aimed at safely disposing the sewage water collected under the underground drainage projects in the Tiruchi Corporation areas. It would have a capacity of 100 MLD. The team had expressed satisfaction over the progress of it. The officials had promised to complete the project within December. The team had asked them to expedite the works.
Mr. Nandakumar said that two hostels-one at Raja Colony and other at Panjapur, were being constructed for housing students of backward classes students. There were undertaken at an estimate of ₹34 crore. The construction was progressing well.
The new integrated bus terminus at Panjapur, which was recently opened by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, was functioning well. The state of art facility had emerged as one of the best in the region.
Collector V. Saravanan, Members of the committee, G. Anbazhagan (Kumbakonam), Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan, Durai Chandrasekaran, Thiruvaiyaru, Kadambur Raju (Kovilpatti), C. Vijayabhaskar (Viralimalai) and other participated in the meeting.
