VCK founder Thol. Thirumavalavan on Saturday said the second State conference of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Madurai lacked vision and clarity about ideology.

“The conference was full of empty noises and applauses,” he told reporters in Chennai. Mr. Thirumavalavan said TVK president Vijay’s speech did not have any constructive opinions or an action plan.

“The hatred for DMK was on display at the conference,” he said. “Even after holding two conferences, they are unclear about their ideology. Politics and ideology go together. Vijay’s stance that the DMK is his party’s political opponent and the BJP its ideological opponent raises doubts and confusion,” Mr. Thirumavalavan said.

The TVK conference was silent about the ongoing issues such as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, ‘vote theft’, and the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, which seeks to allow for the removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and other Ministers if they are arrested on serious charges for a period of 30 days, he pointed out. There was no word against the recent increase in honour killings in the State’s southern districts, Mr. Thirumavalavan added.
