The valedictory function for the fourth Naval Helicopter Flying Instructors’ Course (NHFIC) was held at INS Rajali in Arakkonam town in Ranipet on Friday.

According to a press release, the event marked the graduation of two naval helicopter pilots as Qualified Flying Instructors (QFI) from Helicopter Training School, INAS 561.

Commodore Kapil Mehta, Commanding Officer, INS Rajali, awarded the prestigious ‘Qualified Flying Instructors’ badges to the passing out officers. The QFIs underwent a gruelling 22-week training programme, including ground and flying instructions, along with regular assessments of the ability of the pilots to impart instructions.

The programme emphasises a seamless integration of theoretical knowledge with practical skills, equipping trainee pilots to deliver effective training both on the ground and in the air, the release said.

In his address, Commodore Mehta highlighted the crucial role of INAS 561 in the timely training of instructors, who in turn train the future naval aviators, to meet the Indian Navy’s evolving capabilities. He encouraged the newly graduated instructors to uphold the values and traditions of the service and serve as role models for aspiring Indian Navy pilots, the release said.
