Leadership is not a subject of position or degree but of capacity to make others “empowered and inspired along with responsibility”, were the words shared by the vice-president of The Hindu Group Sridhar Aranala in the interactive session with the second and third year students of the prestigious St. Xavier’s College in Patna on August 23, 2025.
Mr. Aranala was addressing the students on the subject of “Leadership and career growth: Managing people, pressure and headlines”.
“Leadership is not a subject of position or degree but of capacity to make others empowered and inspired along with responsibility. To handle pressure and timeline is an art which all young professional should learn to move ahead successfully,” Mr. Aranala said while addressing the students in an interesting interactive session. “To become a good leader, one should first become a good human being,” Mr. Aranala further said.
During the interactive session, the inquisitive students also asked questions regarding team management, understanding the struggles in career, meeting timelines and handling pressure. They received valuable suggestions from the senior sales and distribution head of The Hindu Group.
Mr. Aranala has been a progressive leader with a career spanning about three decades of experience in sales and service operations across key industries impacting daily lives of people along with driving business growth, managing daily operations and overseeing circulation and brand activation.
While sharing his experiences from professional life, Mr. Aranala further put “importance on determination, adaptability and art of management of people” to the students to improve their leadership quality, handle challenges at the workplace and also to excel in their career with practical moves in present time competitive environment.
The Hindu Group general manager Ronny Gupta and local representative Kumar Nitin too were present on the occasion. Along with rector Fr. Joseph Sebastian S J, Principal of the college Fr. Dr Martin Poras S J and Vice Principal Fr. Dr. Sherry George S J all college teachers and students were present in the interactive session to listen Mr. Aranala with rapt attention and fixated focus.
The vote of thanks to conclude the interactive session was done by Ms. Priya Manish Kumar who said that this “session inspired students to meet challenges of their career in a better and meaningful way”.
