District Collector R. Brindha Devi said that Salem district continued to secure first place for the past 13 consecutive years in selling Tuberculosis (TB) stamps.
Speaking at the function after releasing the 75th batch of TB stamps at the Collectorate on Friday evening (August 22, 2025), Ms. Brindha Devi said that last year, TB stamps worth ₹15.03 lakh were sold and the target was achieved.Â
Salem City Commissioner and Salem District Superintendent of Police (SP) got the first prize for selling the 74th batch of TB stamps within the specified time last year. Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital dean, Joint Director (welfare services), assistant director of urban planning, Tharamangalam district education officer, regional transport officers (RTOs) of Salem West and Salem South, district educational officer (secondary) and assistant director (mines) received special prizes.
Urging TB patients to use handkerchiefs while coughing, the Collector asked them to take medicines regularly for six months. By taking protein-rich and healthy foods, patients will be cured from TB, she added.
