23 passengers injured as van gets upset near Sattur

Twenty-three persons, including children and women, travelling in a van, were injured when the speeding vehicle got upset on Kovilpatti-Sattur highway at Nalli on Sunday.

The police said that all the injured from Tenkasi district were rushed to the Government hospital in Kovilpatti.

While most of them got treated as out-patients, three of them were referred to Tirunelveli Medical College hospital for further treatment.

The police said a group of passengers from North Azhagunachiyarpuram were returning after offering prayers at the Mariamman temple in Irukkangudi when the rear tyre of the van burst leading to the accident.

Sattur Taluk police are investigating.
