Various organisations, including the Utsav Samiti of Hindu Mahaganapati, have made all preparations to install Ganesh idols to celebrate the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi with religious fervour.

The authorities concerned have accorded permission to install 1,068 Ganesh idols in different locations across the district, after organisers submitted related documents to get permission through a single-window system.

The authorities concerned have specified places where organisers should immerse Ganesh idols, as they are prohibited from doing so in rivers and Kalyanis.

“The police have installed Circuit Closed Television (CCTV) cameras at places identified as sensitive and hypersensitive,” Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar told The Hindu.

He said that people should cooperate with the Police Department to ensure smooth and proper immersion of idols.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar chaired a peace committee meeting with the organisers and elders of society.

Mr. Bhoyar advised the participants on maintaining peace during the festivities, right from installation to immersion of idols. He said that the organisers should take additional caution while carrying idols for immersion and ensure that only people within permissible limits are allowed during the immersion process.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the officers to keep ready ambulances, personnel from Fire and Emergency Services, police forces and expert swimmers during immersion.

Selling liquor has been prohibited during the day of immersion, he added.
