
The District Rural Development Agency has taken up 2,920 project works of which 2,800 works have been completed over the last four years.

Salem District Collector R. Brindha Devi on Thursday (August 28, 2025) said that ₹89.17 crore worth of development works had been carried out in Nangavalli panchayat union in the past four years.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting the works, the Collector said that the Tamil Nadu government is implementing various projects to provide basic amenities to the public. Continuous inspections are done to ensure that such projects are of high quality and are brought to public use in a timely manner.
In the Nangavalli Panchayat Union, the District Rural Development Agency, through the Chief Minister’s Village Road Improvement Scheme, the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Scheme, the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, and the Iyothee Thass Pandithar Habitation Development Scheme, has taken up 2,920 project works worth ₹89.17 crore, and 2,800 works have been completed. The remaining 120 works are in progress, the Collector added.
The Collector inspected the construction of two classrooms at the Periya Soragai Panchayat Union Middle School at a cost ₹34.60 lakh, the establishment of a nursery in Sanarapatti panchayat at a cost ₹10 lakh, renovation of canal works at Thalaiyur for ₹6.18 lakh, the construction of classrooms at Adavathur for ₹3.10 lakh, and the water body renovation work at Thoramangalam for ₹4.94 lakh.
Instructions were given to officials to complete these works in the stipulated time and to open them for public use, the Collector added. Officials from departments concerned were present during the inspection.
