The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has said 82 allottees of plots in Sathangadu Iron and Steel Market complex have not completed the registration, and warned that the allotments would be cancelled, as per an official release.

The Sathangadu Iron and Steel Market, established in 1991 as part of the First Comprehensive Plan, spans 203 acres and aims to alleviate congestion in the city’s George Town area. In 1999, a government order declared the area a designated market under the Tamil Nadu Limited Commodity Market (Regulation and Location) Act, 1996.

At a meeting held on August 28, residents’ concern related to construction activities were discussed in detail. CMDA Member Secretary K. Prakash stressed the need for timely registration to ensure compliance with regulations.
