Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai administered the swearing-in of Justices Alok Aradhe and Vipul M. Pancholi as Supreme Court Judges, in New Delhi on Friday (August 29, 2025).
With the swearing-in of these two judges, the Supreme Court returned to its full sanctioned judicial strength of 34.
Despite the dissent by collegium member Justice B.V. Nagarathna, on the appointment of Patna High Court Chief Justice Vipul Pancholi as a judge of the apex Court, the President on Wednesday (August 27, 2025) announced his elevation to the SC.
Justice Pancholi would be in line for the Chief Justiceship of India in 2031 for a tenure of well over a year.
