Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar praised the tireless rescue efforts of the NDRF teams and the swift rescue operation by the IAF choppers in the flood-affected areas of Rajanna Sircilla district on Thursday.
He was speaking to the media after visiting the flood-affected families in Narmala in Gambhiraopet mandal on Thursday afternoon, shortly after two IAF choppers airlifted five stranded cattle grazers of Narmala village to safety.
He thanked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for deploying two helicopters for rescue and relief operations.
He commended the relentless efforts of Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha and Superintendent of Police Gite Mahesh Babasaheb for constantly monitoring the rescue operations since Wednesday, thereby saving the lives of the stranded persons.
Later, the Union Minister visited the house of Nagayya, a cattle grazer, who reportedly was washed away in the gushing waters of the Manair river at Narmala on Wednesday. He handed over financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to Nagayya’s son, Sai.
He also inspected the Mid Manair Dam (MMD) near Kodurupaka later in the day. The water level in the MMD stood at 21.5 tmc ft as against its full reserviour level of 27.5 tmc ft. Heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of Manair river brought heavy inflows into the MMD on Thursday.
