The Union Ministry of Education has approved a proposal to take up a comprehensive infrastructure expansion project at a cost of ₹385.27 crore at the Central University of Tamil Nadu at Neelakudi near Tiruvarur.

The project includes construction of a state-of the-art academic block, additional hostels for students and research scholars, and faculty and staff residences. A dedicated science instrumentation centre, equipped with latest instruments for advanced research, would be established on the campus.

The funding would be made through the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) for the construction of a new Academic Building (at a cost of ₹96.40 crore), Scientific Instrumentation Centre (₹19.95 crore), procurement of scientific instruments (₹16.84 crore), expansion of the administrative building (₹46.16 crore), faculty and staff quarters (₹62.97 crore), Research Scholar Hostel (₹42.60 crore), 300-bed women’s hostel (₹46.63 crore) and 300-bed men’s hostel (₹46.91 crore), according to an official press release.
