Stray dogs kill 25 sheep at Sankarankovil

Stray dogs that entered a pen killed 25 sheep at Sankarankovil in Tenkasi district on Friday night.

Police said shepherd K. Liyaqat Ali, 30, of Thendral Nagar in ward 30 of Sankarankovil municipality, who had set-up a sheep pen, left for his house around Friday midnight. When he returned on Saturday morning, he found that stray dogs that entered the pen and had killed 25 sheep.

Following information, veterinarians from Department of Animal Husbandry visited the spot and treated 17 injured sheep.

Chairman of Sankarankovil municipality Kousalya also visited the spot and asked the officials to control the stray dog menace.
