The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensified its protest against Congress as the party on Saturday staged a demonstration and demanded an apology from Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, over alleged abusive language used against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Voter Adhikar Yatra (Voter Rights Rally) in poll-bound Bihar.
Many leaders, including MP Yogendra Chandolia and former Minister Kailash Gahlot, were detained and taken into police custody at the I.P. Estate police station during the protest.
On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanded an apology from Mr. Gandhi and the Congress party for the alleged remarks. BJP national general secretary, Tarun Chugh and Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva echoed with Mr. Shah’s demands.
Mr. Sachdeva stated that this intolerance exists because Mr. Modi is opposed to family dynasties. “[Narendra] Modi opposes Naxalism, Modi is against terrorism, Modi stands against casteism, and Modi is against corruption. These are the very things that Modi’s opponents stand for,” he said.
‘Born with silver spoon’
“Rahul Gandhi was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and comes from a family that used taxpayer money to celebrate birthdays on flights. How could they tolerate the fact that a poor mother’s son is raising India’s flag in the world? This is why Rahul Gandhi and his followers consistently insult and mock the Prime Minister,” Mr. Sachdeva added.
Mr. Chugh hit back at the Congress, stating that the voice of Delhi has reached the streets, and it is not only for Mr. Gandhi, but for all the Congress members who have dared to use “indecent language” against Mr. Modi.
“The language used in Bihar is undemocratic, and Rahul Gandhi and the entire Congress party must apologise to the nation. He added that they didn’t even hesitate to insult the late mother of Prime Minister Modi,” he said, adding that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the Congress party has lost 18 elections and is now preparing for yet another defeat.
