The 6th Judicial Magistrate First Class Court, Mangaluru, has rejected the bail of jail warder Santosh Hosmani and another person who were accused of supplying cannabis to an inmate of the Mangaluru District Prison.
On August 22, the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force personnel checked jail warder Hosmani and found him hiding cannabis in his innerwear. The personnel found that one Jayaprakash Bangera had given cannabis to Hosmani to provide it to an inmate in the prison. They seized 40 gm of cannabis, a packet of tobacco, mobile charger wire, and a tobacco smoking device from Hosmani.
On the complaint by Superintendent of Prison, the Barke police arrested Hosmani and Bangera for offences under Sections 8(c) and 20(b) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The two were in judicial custody. The duo had submitted applications before the court for bail.
