The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested Mohammed Arshad Khan, 29, a native of Ernakulam in Kerala, for alleged supply of MDMA and other narcotic drugs to medical, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and nursing students in Mangaluru.
In a statement, Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said the police acted on an information about drug supply to catch the accused red-handed on Friday.
The CCB police seized 53.29 gm of MDMA, 2.33 gm of hydroweed cannabis, and 0.45 gm of MDMA pills. A digital weighing machine and a mobile phone of the accused have been seized.
Mr. Reddy said the accused procured narcotic drugs from Bengaluru and supplied it to over 60 students studying medical and allied health science courses in the city. The police have identified the co-accused, and they will be arrested soon, he said.
The information about 60 students have been given to the concerned colleges for preventive action, he said.
