New Corporation Commissioner assumes office in Thoothukudi

S. Priyanka, a 2020-batch IAS officer, assumed charge as Commissioner of the Thoothukudi Corporation on Monday (September 1, 2025).

Corporation officials welcomed the new Commissioner, who said she would accord priority to sanitary operations to keep the city clean, adding that steps would be taken to immediately address public grievances.

Ms. Priyanka had previously served as Sub-Collector of Pollachi in Coimbatore district, Additional Collector (Development), and Project Officer, District Rural Agency of Tiruvarur district. Following that, Ms. Priyanka served as Additional Director of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department.

She was posted as Commissioner of Thoothukudi Corporation following the transfer of her predecessor, Banoth Mrugender Lal, to the Department of Cooperative, Food and Consumer Protection as Deputy Secretary.

After assuming charge, Ms. Priyanka attended the Monitoring Officer meeting held at the Thoothukudi District Collectorate.
