Immovable properties in and around Hyderabad were provisionally attached by Enforcement Directorate, in connection with Maheshwaram government/Bhoodan land case.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Hyderabad Zonal Office, has provisionally attached immovable properties worth about ₹4.8 crore belonging to Mohd Munawar Khan and his wife, Faiqa Taha Khan, in connection with a money laundering case linked to the illegal sale of government land. The attachment was made on August 28 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.

According to the ED, the properties under attachment are located in Banjara Hills, Tolichowki and Shamshabad. The case stems from an FIR registered at Maheshwaram police station in January 2023 against private persons and government officials for alleged forgery of documents and manipulation of land records.

Investigators found that land in survey no. 181 of Nagaram village, Maheshwaram mandal, categorised as government/Bhoodan land, was falsely claimed as ancestral property by Khader Unissa and her son, Munawar Khan. Revenue records were allegedly mutated fraudulently, after which the parcels were sold to several parties through middlemen. These middlemen, in collusion with government officials, forged documents and altered records to have the land removed from the prohibited list before facilitating its sale to private buyers.

The ED stated that by selling the government/Bhoodan land illegally, Khader Unissa and Munawar Khan generated proceeds of crime amounting to ₹6.45 crore. The latter is alleged to have used part of these funds to acquire immovable assets in the name of his wife, Faiqa Taha Khan. Further investigation is under way.
