In a major drug haul on Tuesday, the Thrissur police seized hashish oil valued at nearly ₹1 crore.

The City Anti-Narcotics Squad arrested a man, identified as Muhammed, a resident of Erumapetty, from the Thrissur railway station premises during a surveillance operation.

According to the police, Muhammed had smuggled the contraband from Bengaluru and was preparing to distribute it in the district when he was caught.

“This is one of the biggest seizures of hashish oil in recent times in Thrissur,” a senior police officer said, adding that the operation was part of intensified checks to curb narcotics trafficking through the city. Further investigations are under way to trace the supply network and other individuals linked to the racket.
