Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana on Tuesday appealed to the small group of farmers in Amaravati to part with their lands under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS).
Mr. Narayana reiterated that land pooling would provide them significantly higher long-term benefits compared to land acquisition.
The Minister noted that construction works in the capital region had picked up pace.
However, within some project zones, small parcels of land, ranging from one acre to five acres each, had not been handed over to the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA). Together, these add up to about 1,800 acres, he said.
Meanwhile, to ensure uninterrupted development, the CRDA decided to acquire these parcels through land acquisition.
The decision was taken during the 52nd CRDA meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Mr. Narayana said the CRDA delegated powers to the Commissioner to carry out the acquisition process.
Reiterating his appeal, the Minister said that farmers who voluntarily join the LPS would receive better returns, developed plots, and additional benefits compared to acquisition. He urged the remaining farmers to reconsider and contribute to the smooth development of the capital city.
