Former AIADMK Minister and Gobichettipalayam MLA K.A. Sengottaiyan on Wednesday (September 3, 2025) said when he “speaks openly” to the media at the party office in Gobichettipalayam at 9.15 a.m. on September 5, his opinions will reflect the sentiments of the party cadre.
During a brief interaction with reporters in Gobichettipalayam, Mr. Sengottaiyan said: “I am making it clear that my opinion will reflect the views of the cadre during my address.” Responding to a query on reports that he had gathered 10,000 supporters to demonstrate his strength, he clarified: “I did not invite anyone for consultations on Tuesday (September 2); the supporters came on their own.”
Mr. Sengottaiyan reportedly felt sidelined within the party, claiming he was given less importance and was not consulted by the high command on various matters. The rift between the senior leader and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami has been apparent for several months. As trouble continues to brew, Mr. Sengottaiyan told the media on Tuesday that he would address reporters on September 5 and “speak openly.”
