Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud has predicted that the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) will vanish by the next elections in Telangana.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Wednesday (September 3, 2025), Mr. Goud referred to suspension of K. Kavitha from BRS and raised suspicion that alleged that the party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family was enacting this drama to confuse people.
He said that had Ms. Kavitha tendered her resignation from the Legislative Council a few years ago, people would have accepted it. “She was partner in alleged corruption in the BRS regime for 10 years and was involved in final decision making for the last decade,” he said adding that no body would believe corruption took place without her involvement.
He charged that the family dispute was over the distribution of ill gotten money and wondered why the Congress party should get the blame in her fight against former Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao and former MP J. Santosh Kumar.
Pointing out that the Congress party has no interest whatsoever to interfere in their internal squabbles or ongoing controversy surrounding Ms. Kavitha, he said it was ironical that she was talking about ethics when she herself is under cloud.
Mr. Goud wondered why did Ms. Kavitha suddenly change her stance and started pointing fingers at Mr. Harish Rao instead of her brother K.T. Rama Rao, who was her first target earlier.
Bhongir MP welcomes Kavitha’s remarks
Meanwhile, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said he welcomed Ms. Kavitha talking about corruption. “Let her prove her sincerity by giving a statement to the CBI regarding the same,” he said in a statement. He noted that Ms. Kavitha spoke about ‘Bangaru Telangana’ (Golden Telangana) and the stark reality was that all the gold was allegedly with her two cousins T. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Kumar.
Mr. Reddy disputed the argument that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was supporting Mr. Harish Rao. “If Revanth Reddy intended to protect Harish Rao, then why would he recommend a commission and CBI investigation into Kaleshwaram project?” he asked.
