Three of a family, including two children, killed in road accident in Kollam

Three people, including two children, were killed and two co-passengers, all of a family, were injured when their sports utility collided head-on with a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Super Fast passenger bus at Valiyakulangara in the Oachira police station limits in Kollam early Thursday (September 4, 2025). 

The police identified the deceased as Prince Thomas, a resident of Thevalakkara, and his children, Athul and Alka. 

Mr. Thomas’s wife, Bindu Susan Varghese, and another daughter, Aishwarya, were admitted to a local hospital with serious injuries. 

Local people and emergency responders, including the Fire and Rescue Services personnel, had to cut through mangled metal to extricate the SUV’s passengers. 

The accident snarled traffic on the congested arterial highway for hours. 

The police have launched an accident scene investigation and have obtained video footage of the mishap from the surveillance cameras of shops and commercial institutions adjacent to the road.
