Stone laid for ₹48.77 crore RoB & LHS at Chegunta

The foundation stone for a ₹48.77 crore road over bridge and limited height subway at Chegunta, between Wadiaram and Masaipet railway stations, where a level crossing gate currently exists, was laid by Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao in the presence of SCR Hyderabad DRM Santosh Kumar Verma on Thursday.

The MP thanked Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for taking up the work with the total cost to be borne by the railways, and sought speedy execution. He also requested for construction of a second platform at Masaipet and a reservation counter at Wadiaram station, which was accepted by the DRM. A stoppage for Rayalaseema and Devagiri Express at Chegunta was also requested.

Meanwhile, a highest ever gross originating revenue of ₹8,593 crore was earned by the SCR this financial year from April to August so far with the freight earnings touching ₹5,634 crore or 6.7% more when compared to last year during the same period carrying 60.4 million tonnes. Passenger earnings touched ₹2,500 crore or 2.2% more in comparison to last year, carrying 119 million passengers, said a press release.
