On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday asked the teachers to help achieve her dream of making public schools better than private schools.

“Prime Minister [Narendra Modi] and even your Chief Minister have studied in government schools. You can understand that these schools sow the seeds of the country’s future, and these teachers sow the seeds in the minds of the youth,” Ms. Gupta said at the State Teachers’ Award ceremony held at Thyagaraj Sports Complex.

“Today, I have come to pay my respects to you all, but I have also come here to make a request. I want our government schools, with over 70,000 teachers that determine the future of 18 lakh students, to become better than private schools.”

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood were also present at the event.
