A nine-month-old infant was kidnapped in the district on Friday (September 5, 2025).
According to the police, Madurai (22), and his wife Priya (20), residents of Panchathangi Lake near Gugai had a nine-month-old daughter. For the past month, the family was staying under the Alagapuram flyover and selling wire bags. In the early hours of Friday, when Madurai woke up, he found his daughter missing.
The couple searched for the infant in nearby places, but could not find the child. Later, they lodged a complaint with the Alagapuram police. The police registered a case and special teams were formed.
Police sources said that they verified the CCTV footage in the locality, but were unable to get a clue. The police are verifying the CCTV footage in the nearby areas as well to identify the infant and the kidnapper, they added.
