AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday slammed the ruling DMK for the irregularities reported in Dindigul Corporation and Madurai Corporation. If AIADMK comes to power appropriate action will be taken against those involved, he said.

Addressing public gatherings in Natham, Dindigul and Nilakottai Assembly segments as part of ā€˜Makkalai Kaappom, Thamilagathai Meetpom’ campaign, Mr. Palaniswami said irregularities to the tune of ₹4.66 crore was reported in Dindigul Corporation. Similarly, Madurai Corporation property tax scam caused a loss of ₹200 crore to the civic body, he said.

Such irregularities and scams were being reported in many places. If AIADMK was voted to power in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections in 2026 a thorough probe will be conducted into the irregularities and scam and appropriate action will be taken against those involved in the scam, he said.

Apart from this, there is a bigger scam which is Tasmac. Most of the Tasmac shops are run by DMK functionaries. Malpractices have been unravelled by the Directorate of Enforcement. The irregularities will be probed into after AIADMK comes to power, he said.

Mr. Palaniswami said Dindigul was predominantly an agricultural district. When AIADMK was in power several welfare schemes had been implemented for the welfare of the farmers. Crop loans were waived, kudimaramath scheme was implemented and farmers had sufficient water. Three phase electricity was provided and crop insurance was provided. AIADMK implemented several projects in Dindigul district, he said.

However, DMK after coming to power stopped many of the schemes introduced by AIADMK. DMK has not even implemented 10 % of its poll promise. After AIADMK comes to power in 2026, these schemes will be revived, he said. Concrete houses will be built for the poor people. Mini clinics will be relaunched and the grievances of the farmers will be redressed, he added.
