The School Education Department officials dismissed a government high school headmaster who was named as an accused in a POCSO case.

According to sources, headmaster Andrews, 55, of Cholakanpettai Government High School near Thondi was accused last year of sexually harassing female students for about four years.

As the All Women Police in Thiruvadanai registered a POCSO case against Andrews, he was suspended from his position.

Following this, the School Education Department officials, as per a direction from the State government, have been investigating and initiating action against those teachers who are involved in POCSO cases.

As part of the investigation, the Joint Director of School Education issued an order for the permanent dismissal of the headmaster.

As per the POCSO Act, the department has also recommended disqualifying all the educational certificates of Andrews.
