The Mangaluru City police have arrested Sasikumar of Vellore in Tamil Nadu for allegedly calling terminal manager of Mangaluru International Airport and threatening to blow up the airport.

The Mangaluru city police have arrested Sasikumar (38), a resident of Vellore in Tamil Nadu, on the charge of calling the terminal manager of Mangaluru International Airport and threatening to blow up the airport.
On the night of August 29, 2025, the terminal manager received the call threatening of blowing up the terminal building of the airport if it was not vacated immediately. The city police and CISF personnel then searched the terminal building and found the call to be a hoax. A case was registered by the Bajpe police station for offences under Sections 351 (2), 351 (3) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under Section 3 (1)(d) of Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against Safety of Civil Aviation Act 1982.
Threat to blow up Mumbai a hoax message, say city police
In a statement, the police said investigation revealed involvement of Sasikumar alias M.D. Sampath in the case. A team of city police went to Vellore and secured Sasikumar.
“On inquiry, the police came to know that Sasikumar had collected numbers of all airport in the country by searching social media. He kept on calling every airport and threatened of exploding them and in that process he called Mangaluru Airport too,” the police said.

He was produced before the jurisdictional magistrate, who remanded Sasikumar to 14 days of judicial custody. “Sasikumar was B.Pharma graduate and was unmarried,” the police said.
Four months ago, the city police had arrested Deepanjan Mitra from West Bengal, who was accused of sending mails threatening of exploding Mangaluru and other airports in the country.
