Food and Supplies Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Sunday said the Delhi government is ensuring that people displaced by floods are not deprived of their basic needs. His comments came even as the Yamuna water level at the Old Railway Bridge continued to recede and dropped below the ‘danger mark’ of 205.33 metres.

Mr. Sirsa said 57% of September’s ration quota had already been distributed under the National Food Security Act, 2013 and the One Nation One Ration Card scheme.

“I have instructed officials to maintain fair price shop operations and ensure seamless supply of food packets in flood-hit areas,” he said, adding that his office is distributing prepared meals to the affected families in coordination with the Revenue Department.

Opposition parties, however, accused the government of inadequate relief efforts. Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal posted on X: “It feels as if there is no government in Delhi. People are in deep distress.”

Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Atishi said, “There are no fans, many camps lack electricity, toilets are dirty, and the water supply is inadequate.”

The Congress demanded compensation of ₹1 lakh per acre for farmers in nearly 50 villages where crops have been submerged.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva termed AAP’s criticism “dirty politics”.
