Days after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s statement that the Sangh Parivar would not take part in movements for temples in Mathura and Kashi, but that it would not stop its workers (swayamsewaks) from participating, the BJP’s official X handle has posted a statement that the dream of the Ram Temple has been fulfilled, now it is the turn of Mathura-Vrindavan.

The party quoted an interview given by Baba Bageshwar to a news channel, saying Mathura–Vrindavan is next. “Even Lord Ram has been enthroned; now Krishna Kanhaiya will take his seat… Baba Bageshwar praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that today faith and tradition are being respected in the country. The dream of the Ram Temple has been fulfilled, now it is the turn of Mathura-Vrindavan,” the BJP said on X.

No direct involvement

The RSS chief had said in Delhi on August 29 that the Sangh will not participate in any of the temple movements, either in Mathura or Kashi. However, he said the RSS will not stop its volunteers if they want to join the “temple cause.” “I must clarify that the Sangh actively participated in the Ram Mandir movement and took it to a crescendo, but now, it will not directly participate in any further movements related to temples. …but the sentiments of Hindu society regarding Mathura and Kashi must be respected, as in the minds of the community, Kashi, Mathura, and Ayodhya have deep significance — two are birthplaces, and one is a place of residence. It is natural for Hindu society to express that urge,” said Mr. Bhagwat.

Mr. Bhagwat also suggested that “In the cases involving the Shahi Eidgah in Mathura, and the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, the ‘other side’ (Muslims) can give away its claim and hand over the same to Hindus, since it is a matter of ‘just three temples’ … there can be a little effort from the other side also … since it’s just a matter of three, take it. This will be a big step towards brotherhood.”
