‘Post office in Sholinganallur should improve its services ’

Why do we go to post office? To get stamps, book speed posts and carry out transactions in savings-related post office schemes. But the post office in Sholinganallur, tucked away in a corner, is not easily accessible. It is unable to provide such basic services on many days, ostensibly on account of staff shortage.

During the third week of August, for three days on the trot, the stamps and speed post counter were closed and many citizens had to wait and return frustrated. This is a recurring happening in this post office which caters to Sholinganallur, Chemmencheri, Navalur and beyond that as well.

It is beyond one’s understanding why the largest assembly constituency and the highest Income Tax and local revenues earning area where numerous IT majors and multinational companies are operating, can not get better postal services?

My repeated complaints to Post Master General and downwards have drawn a blank. They have not even responded to the complaint, let alone take any action to redress the genuine grievances.
