
Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner A.Arun rewards SI Karikalan of St Thomas Mount

The Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner A. Arun on Tuesday rewarded police personnel for their good work.
According to the city police, a case relating to sexual assault on a nine-year-old girl was reported in Adyar Police district in 2015. Then, Thoraipakkam Police registered a case under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested a 20-year-old youth. The case was further investigated, and a charge sheet was filed at a special court by the All Women Police Inspector N. Dharma. The police inspector ensured the conviction of the accused recently. He was sentenced to 10-year-imprisonment.
Likewise, a team comprising of Sub-Inspector G. Karikalan, constables D. Balaji and P. Muniasamy of St. Thomas Mount, conducted a raid at a lodge on August 13. They nabbed seven persons including a juvenile who were part of a drug cartel and seized nearly 40 kg ganja and a few vehicles.
On August 26, when a grievance camp was on at a school in Tiruvottiyur, a boy who accompanied his father Vinodhkumar had a seizure. Even after first aid, the child was not responding. Special Sub-Inspector N. Maridurai took the child in his two wheeler to a private hospital. The child recovered after treatment.
The Commissioner appreciated the efforts all these police personnel and gave cash rewards to them.
