Tamil Nadu boys’ and girls’ bagged the titles in the 75th National junior basketball championships in Ludhiana on Tuesday. 

In the boys’ final, Tamil Nadu overcame host Punjab 81-76 while in the girls’ title clash, Tamil Nadu beat Gujarat 100-85.

The winners took home Rs. 3 lakhs and the runners-up got Rs. 2 lakhs. 

The results (finals): Boys: Tamil Nadu 81 (Venkat Dhanush 32, Mithun Vel 17, R.R. Ashwin 13, Yadesh Kumar 11) bt Punjab 76 (Tajinderbir Singh 24, Mrigendra Singh Dhaliwal 21, Farehjeet Singh 14, Ravi Pratap Singh 11). 

Girls: Tamil Nadu 100 (K. Heema Vani 31, Noorul Shajitha 21, G. Swetha 16, A. Jeffrin 12, Raja Lakshmi 12) bt Gujarat 86 (Archi Patel 30, Aahana George 27, Niyaliba Gohil 17). 

Bronze medal: Boys: Rajasthan 86 (Chetan Choudhary 16, Piyush Choudhary 16, Kailash Bishnoi 14, Lokesh Kumar Sharma 13, Bhupendra Singh Rathore 12) bt Kerala 59 (Jins K. Joby 21, P.M. Goutham 10).

Girls: Maharashtra 54  (Aarya Pathangare 13, Siya Bhonsle 11)  bt Haryana 51 (Kafi 25).

Most Valuable Players: Boys: Mrigendra Singh Dhaliwal (Punjab); Girls: Aahana George (Gujarat).
