Political leaders hail appointment of General Manager for South Coast Railway Zone

The posting of Sandeep Mathur as the first General Manager of South Coast Railway (S Co R) Zone is being hailed by Ministers, MLAs and people’s representatives, cutting across party lines. They expressed the view that the move would spur the economic growth of North Andhra region and Andhra Pradesh.

Visakhapatnam District In charge Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy thanked the Centre for appointing GM for the new Railway Zone on behalf of the people of the State. He said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was working relentlessly for the development of the State.

Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the progress of the SCoR works in Visakhapatnam reflects the commitment of the coalition government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, towards operationalisation of the zone. The construction of the SCoR Zonal Office building at Mudasarlova, would be fast-tracked and completed within 12 months.

TDP Visakhapatnam district president Gandi Babji said that the establishment of the new zone would enable the youth from Andhra Pradesh to get more employment opportunities and new trains can be launched from the State. He thanked the Centre for appointment of the GM.

CPI State Council Member Marupilla Pydiraju welcomed the appointment of General Manager for SCoR, which was announced in 2019, after long-drawn struggles by the people of North Andhra, civil society organisations, youth and women’s organisations, and the Visakha Railway Zone Sadhana Samithi, formed under the aegis of the CPI, with active involvement of all political parties including the BJP, YSRCP, TDP, and the CPI(M).

Mr. Pydiraju said that a date for operationalisation of SCoR Zone should be declared without any further delay.
