Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said that 3,400 potholes along 1,400 kilometres of roads under the PWD will be repaired on Tuesday.
Mr. Singh said that over 200 maintenance vans equipped with âadvanced repair technologyâ and high-quality materials, along with 1,000 personnel, including 70 assistant engineers, 150 junior engineers, workers, and supervisors, will be deployed for the work.
The announcement came even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted the monsoon to reach Delhi by Wednesday. While predicting daily rains till June 29, the IMD also issued a âyellow alertâ urging citizens to âbe awareâ of potentially impactful weather.
Addressing a press conference, the Minister said, âItâs not that work hasnât been done over the past four months. Pothole repairs have been carried out continuously. However, we decided to take immediate action given that the monsoon is likely to reach any day now.â

He added that the âbefore and afterâ pictures of repair work will be uploaded on the PWD website along with the location for verification. âThis drive shows our commitment to providing good governance to the people of Delhi. We have come up with this project in a short span of time. The roads have been divided into zones to streamline operations, and there will be real-time tracking of the action,â Mr. Singh said.
