The State government has allocated ₹1 crore to every Assembly constituency to tackle the mounting drinking water issues caused by severe drought conditions, Secretary to the Government Department of Minority Welfare, Haj and Waqf and district in-charge Secretary Manoj Jain said.
Reviewing disaster management efforts at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium in Yadgir on Friday, Mr. Jain directed officials to deploy constituency-level groundwater monitoring, expedite the Jaladhare and multi-village drinking water projects, and to optimise water reserves at the Narayanpur and Sannati barrages.
To mitigate distress migration, the administration has been instructed to ramp up rural employment under the VB-G RAM G scheme, particularly targeting underperforming gram panchayats, he said.
Mr. Jain also said that plans were laid out to establish horticulture clusters in Gurmitkal and Shorapur forest areas, while inter-departmental efforts were being made to improve academic performance across government schools.
Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve provided updates on the Krishna and Bhima rivers’ water levels and explained in detail the present conditions of the drought and other development issues to Mr. Jain during the meeting.
Superintedent of Police Pruthvik Shankar and other district officials were present.
