A total of 37,839 students in Coimbatore district appeared at 159 centres for the SSLC public exams that commenced on Wednesday. There were 551 absentees.
Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar inspected the exam centre at St. Michaels Higher Secondary School at Town Hall in the city. Students from 509 schools sat for the exam at the specified centres.
The question papers are being kept under strong round-the-clock security at 11 strong rooms across the district.
