The chairperson and members of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights visited the Bharosa Centre in Hyderabad on Tuesday, to review its functioning and the services provided to children and women victims of sexual offences. During the visit, the team interacted with the staff and assessed the integrated, victim-centric support system offered at the one-stop centre.
Officials were briefed on the objectives and operations of Bharosa. They also visited the Child-Friendly Court to review the procedures being followed for minors. A presentation by the Women Safety Wing highlighted that 38 convictions were secured in cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Hyderabad last year — among the highest in the country.
The SCPCR chairperson appreciated the infrastructure, systematic functioning and impact of the Bharosa Centre, and assured continued support, including annual reviews.
