Kalyana Karnataka development a priority, says Tangadagi

The government has taken several measures to move Kalyana Karnataka beyond its tag as a backward region and put it on the path of development, said Koppal district in-charge Minister Shivaraj S. Tangadagi.

Unfurling the national flag at the 79th Kalyana Karnataka Utsav celebrations at the District Stadium in Koppal on Thursday, Mr. Tangadagi said the government was giving priority to the development of the region, including infrastructure, employment, and welfare.

He said the recruitment process for 72,000 vacant government posts, including those reserved under Article 371(J), had begun. The government was also implementing the Kalyana Patha programme to develop 1,150 km of roads in Kalyana Karnataka and was planning the Yuva Udyoga Sethu scheme to create more employment opportunities in the private sector.

“Under the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) plan for 2026-27, ₹330.37 crore had been earmarked for the Koppal district, comprising ₹231.26 crore under the micro sector and ₹99.11 crore under the macro sector,” Mr. Tangadagi said.

Recalling the events leading to the integration of the Hyderabad State with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948, Mr. Tangadagi said the Nizam’s administration had restricted civil liberties and that the Hyderabad Karnataka liberation movement had been led by several leaders, including Swami Ramanand Tirtha and local freedom fighters.

“The military action known as Operation Polo, led by then Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, resulted in the integration of the Hyderabad State with the Indian Union,” he said.

The Minister said the government was also strengthening direct interaction with people through the Praja Seva campaign. He invited the public to participate in the district-level Praja Seva andolana meeting scheduled to be held at Amara Jyothi Sabha Bhavan in Gangavathi on September 19.

The programme was presided over by K. Raghavendra Hitnal, Koppal MLA. Hemalatha Naik, MLC; Deputy Commissioner Suresh B. Itnal; Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Varnit Negi; Superintendent of Police Sahil Bagla; and other officials were present.

A total of 19 contingents, including the police, Armed Reserve, Home Guards, Bharat Seva Dal, NCC and Bharat Scouts and Guides, participated in the parade. The book ‘Hyderabad Vimochane Sutta-Mutta’ was also released on the occasion.
