Four women labourers were killed and three others suffered grievous injuries after a lorry collided head-on with the autorickshaw in which they were travelling at Naspur on National Highway 363 in Mancherial district on Monday morning. The women were on their way to Mancherial when the accident occurred.
The impact threw the passengers onto the road. While two women labourers died on the spot, two others succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Mancherial later in the day.
The deceased were identified as Lakshmi, Soundarya, Sumalatha and Sonia, all from various villages in Mandamarri mandal.
Minister for Labour and Employment, G. Vivek Venkataswamy, expressed grief over the deaths and personally announced a financial assistance of ₹25,000 each to the families of the deceased and ₹10,000 each to the injured.
