Minister for Law and Energy Resources R. Nirmalkumar said the launch of Thai Maaman Gold Ring Scheme in Madurai by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay was a joyful occasion for the people of Madurai.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting the arrangements made for the scheme’s launch at Government Rajaji Hospital here, he said: “It is a matter of great joy that the scheme is being launched in Madurai. The Chief Minister, who has won the affection of the people of Madurai, is coming here as their brother. It was his the CM’s personal wish to launch this scheme in Madurai.”
He stated that all arrangements had been made to ensure that the public and the patients faced no inconvenience during the CM’s visit. Banners were usually erected during events attended by the CM. However, no banners or flags had been put up along the routes taken by him in Madurai, he added.
Measures had been taken to ensure that there was no disruption to the hospital’s regular operations or to the patients. There would be no hindrance to the normal movement of ambulances, he added.
Stating that only a limited number of people were being permitted inside the event hall, he said mostly beneficiaries were participating.
Speaking about various projects for Madurai, the Minister said ₹2,000 crore had been allocated for underground drainage project, and funds had been allocated for the long-pending cancer hospital project.
Mr. Nirmalkumar stated that the search for a location to establish a Law School of Excellence on about 15 acres in Madurai was under way, and many more such projects were expected to come here.
