Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu Archana Patnaik inspected the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) warehouse on the Kanniyakumari District Collectorate premises in Nagercoil in the presence of recognised political party members on Monday.
Ms. Patnaik inspected the EVM warehouse in the presence of Kanniyakumari District Collector M. Prathap to ensure that the safety and maintenance procedures of the EVMs were being followed as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
She reviewed the availability of EVM and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units stored in the warehouse and checked their security status.
The security panels installed in the storage room, locks and seals were checked to ensure that they were in accordance with the ECI’s regulations. The functioning of the CCTV cameras and the quality of the footage being recorded in the control room were also inspected.
The records of people entering and leaving the warehouse, the movement records of machinery and the daily security audit records were also checked.
District Revenue Officer M. Velumani, Assistant Collector (training) R. Monika and other officials were present.
