The State government on Thursday nominated Congress leader C.G. Madhusudan as chairperson of the Shivamogga-Bhadravathi Urban Development Authority (SUDA), replacing H.S. Sundaresh, who recently made allegations against several party leaders, including School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa.
The order was issued on Thursday, by the under secretary of the Urban Development Department. The newly nominated chairperson took the charge of his office in the afternoon.
Mr. Madhusudan, 40, has been associated with the Congress for years and has served as an office-bearer of the Youth Congress. He was recently appointed State coordinator of the Youth Congress committee, with the responsibility of constituting Bharat Joto Yuva Sanghas in 11 districts.
Mr. Sundaresh, a former president of the District Congress Committee, was appointed SUDA chairperson in February 2024. He recently held a press conference in Shivamogga, where he made allegations against several Congress leaders, including Mr. Bangarappa, who is also the Minister in-charge of the district.
He is also said to have used expletives while criticising party leaders, following which the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) issued him a notice on September 24, asking him to respond within seven days. The government’s decision to appoint a new chairperson came within a week of the notice.
