Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Erode, organised a one-day offline workshop on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in agriculture at the ICAR-KVK MYRADA campus in Gobichettipalayam on Friday as part of the Digital Agriculture Extension Promoter (DAEP) course.
The course is being organised with the support of ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad, National Skill Foundation of India (NSFI), Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, and Adelaide University, Australia. The workshop was conducted as a continuation of the online course to provide participants with hands-on training in the use of AI tools.
P. Alagesan, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, Erode, delivered the introductory address. He highlighted the need for farmers and extension workers to adopt digital technologies and said the workshop aimed to help develop an action plan and assess the short- and long-term impact of the course.
Dhivya Sundaraju, Founder and CEO of AlphaCloud Tech, Chennai, led the technical session and conducted practical demonstrations. Participants were trained in using AI tools for marketing and promoting farm products, preparing project reports, creating content and developing farmer advisories.
Forty-two participants, including members of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), entrepreneurs, KVK scientists and rural youth, took part in the workshop.
Participants said the training would help grassroots-level extension workers provide timely, accurate and farmer-friendly information and enable agri-enterprises to strengthen their operations using affordable digital tools.
