Director of Industries Nikhil Chakravarthi said that Telangana has been, and continues to be keen to attract electric vehicle manufacturers, battery supplies, and allied companies that would want to relocate to Telangana by means of targeted incentives.
Mr Chakravarthy was speaking at ASSOCHAM’s MobilityNext 2047, an EV awareness conference on Friday which brought on together government, industry and academia to deliberate on the avenues for transitioning to greener mobility and also to discuss the ecosystem that needs to be put in place to drive faster EV adoption.
Mr Chakravarthy underscored Telangana’s focus on attracting investments across the automotive value chain, including EV manufacturing, batteries and charging infrastructure. He spoke about the importance of building on Telangana’s industrial strengths, improving ease of doing business and creating stronger linkages between industry, academia and skill development to support the next phase of mobility.
The upcoming Telangana Global Summit will see a “Industrial Policy 2.0” which includes 10 new generation policies with respect to semiconductors, and across logistics to electronics.
ASSOCHAM Co-chair Rambabu Boorugu pointed out the need for an ecosystem comprising vehicle manufacturing, battery technology, charging infrastructure, public transport and recycling.
Harsh Vardhan, Chair, ASSOCHAM spoke about the need for collaboration between industry, academia and startups to develop indigenous capabilities in artificial intelligence, robotics and digital technologies for the mobility sector.
